Research into Ageing supports basic, clinical and epidemiological studies of ageing. Proposals should clearly state how the planned research is applicable to improving the health of people over 65 years old.

Here are some examples of topics on which we support studies:

  • the biology of ageing;
  • stroke and neurodegenerative diseases (including Alzheimer's disease);
  • cognitive and sensory loss;
  • immunity;
  • joint and bone degeneration;
  • incontinence; and
  • the causes, treatment or prevention of falls and fractures.

We do not fund:

  • cancer research;
  • sociology or policy research; or
  • evaluation/comparison/optimisation of existing NHS treatments.

If you are have any questions about eligibility please contact Dr Helen Rippon on 020 7239 1895 or email helen.rippon@ageing.org before you submit an application.
